Integrating music into other areas of learning enhances our humanity, the learning environments of children, and the engagement of children in their own learning.  This professional development program, with the heart and spirit of Jennifer Stowers in mind - especially her love of children and music - focuses on integrating music and other disciplines to enhance the learning experiences of children and one’s own teaching methods.

The intent of this professional development program is to encourage talented teachers to design and present workshops that demonstrate how the disciplines of physical education, math, and the humanities can be integrated effectively.  Well-designed workshops like these offer an opportunity help colleagues discover innovative teaching strategies, discover a potential for new experiences, and find new ways to experiment with music in their own classrooms for the benefit of the children in their charge.

In essence, the Foundation’s intent is to have professional teachers teach each other how to teach - with creativity, music, and joy.

The JSQ Foundation has established the Jennifer Stowers Quintal Teacher Development Endowed Scholarship Fund for Wheelock College students. The fund is administered by Wheelock College. For more information, contact the College’s Office of Financial Aid at finaid.wheelock.edu
